2018 WASZP Cup Norway is an amazing Championship held over three events throughout the year at varying locations around Norway. Stage 1 was raced at Glaesver, and you can find out more about that by clicking this link. Stage 2 was held at Åsgårdstrand, which is famous as the home of renowned artist Edvard Munch, and the conditions were picture perfect!
2018 was one of the warmest summers on record in most of Europe and Norway was not exempt! Gorgeous blue skies and temperatures in the high 20’s provided glamorous sailing conditions for all competitors! Unfortunately, the warm air meant that the wind did not blow more than 15 knots during the event, but nonetheless, the sailors had a great time and the racing was tight!
The thirds and final stage of WASZP Cup Norway was held again at Lake Bygdin, over 1000 meters above sea level! Despite the amazing summer that had featured so strongly this year, the weather up at Lake Bygdin was very different! For the first time in Hartas Productions history, we covered a sailing event that was held whilst it was snowing!

The weather sure was cold but there was plenty of wind for the WASZP sailors to get out and compete in the final races of the Cup!
Overall, the competitors had a fantastic time at all the events and the skill level increased dramatically throughout the season, which is a big bonus as there are many Norwegian sailors heading to the 2nd WASZP International Games in Perth in January 2019! The WASZP spirit will be bigger and better than ever at this event so we look forward to seeing you there!
